Healthy to use on your period?

So I bought myself a vibrator online for a good price and it arrived this morning. I am currently (and sadly) on my period at the moment and was so dying to try out my new toy I decided to go ahead and lay some towels down and try it on my period. I was wondering is this a common and healthy thing to do? I washed it after me with hot water and some disinfectant toy spray I bought when purchasing my vibrator.
